Charlie's Saturday night show is also sold out but there's still a few tickets left for the Sunday night show from Bandera's rowdy country rocker, so get on-line or pick up the phone (830-629-5077) and get yours while you can. Known for tunes such as "Life of the Party" and "Right Man for the Job", come and help us kick off the fall season with the right attitude. Little sis, Robyn Ludwick opens the show.
Free Fridays in September:
We are showcasing some of our favorite bands on Friday nights this September, and we want you to come and check them out so there is no cover charge! The Texas Sapphires kick off the Friday free shows on Sept. 8th. The Sapphires are Austin's favorite alt-country band, according to the polls, and the band features the songwriting and vocals of Billy Brent, formerly of Nathan Hamilton's band. Gruene Hall's favorite local bluesman, Seth Walker, brings his stellar band back on Sept. 15th. Sound clips from his awesome new self-titled CD are at sethwalker.com.
The
Small Stars feature
Miles Zuniga, former front man for Fastball, and are one of
the most innovative and entertaining rock bands we've seen in awhile. They'll
be here on Sept. 22nd. You'll have a smile on your face, at sometime,
about something, at a 'Stars show. The
Mother Truckers make their Gruene Hall debut on Sept. 29th,
the last Friday of the month . A crowd favorite at the latest
Willie
Nelson Picnic, these guys have a sound reminiscent of Gram Parsons
and Emmylou Harris, with a rockin' Americana edge to it. We
are expecting great things from the Truckers, so come check them
out while you can! See our website
for complete show info.

This former carpenter moved from upstate New York to Texas in 1981. Hal bought a house in Gruene, unaware that he was just across the river from Texas’ oldest dance hall, Gruene Hall. A drummer since high school in his hometown of Greenwich, New York, he also had a notebook full of song ideas, but he didn’t give much thought to becoming a songwriter until he started regularly attending Gruene Hall’s Sunday afternoon singer/songwriter sessions. In 1989, Hal recorded his first album, "Threadbare Alibis," for the tiny label, Watermelon Records. A little later he decided to move to Nashville and try to make a living as a songwriter. The result of "Past The Point Of Rescue," his gold debut Curb album, has been nothing short of phenomenal. He was soon inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, solidifying his legendary position in the country music world.
There must be
something in the water around Bandera country - The
McKay Brothers are yet another sibling combination from the area, with
extraordinary songwriting and vocal skills. They are currently touring
in support of their latest album, "Cold Beer and Hot Tamales". They'll
be Hal's special guests along with new Nashville sensations, the Roy Orbison-esque
group, Big Blue Hearts
.

This
third annual event is a gathering of select Texas artists to showcase and
sell a wide range of metal arts. Almost 30 artists are participating in
this year's festival and are bringing with them a wide array of finished
works from soaring, outdoor metal sculpture to delicate jewelry. Artistic
Metal Work decorative pieces, sculpture, fun and funky garden pieces, and
funtional objects will be presented for show and sale.
Admission
is free!

Catch these great acts at the Hall on Sept. 9 & 10!
While
in town for the Metal Arts Fest., be sure and stop by the Hall for some
great tunes. The Resentments

are
a super group of songwriter/musicians, featuring Stephen Bruton, Jon
Dee Graham, and Scrappy Judd Newcomb. They don't get down this way
very often, so be sure and come by, and stick around
for
Aaron
Watson on Saturday night! On Sunday it's a triple treat,
with Gruene Hall's
Gospel Brunch

a Texas Twist in the morning, local favorite
Bret
Graham with the early afternoon show, and a
