Built in 1878, Gruene Hall is the oldest continually operating dance hall in Texas. 30 years ago the current owners decided that Gruene Hall
still had many  good years ahead of  it, and started booking events like George Strait, Lyle Lovett,  Little Richard, Jerry Jeff Walker,
Willie Nelson, and Dr. John. From country to rock to blues and Texas Outlaw music, the stage has seen it all. When built
by H.D. Gruene  over 125 years ago, Gruene Hall was the center of social life for the area farmers.
We'd like to think that we are doing our part to continue the tradition.

Who better than to headline our 30th Anniversary show than Joe Ely!  And adding to the anniversary, Ely is bringing his 90's era band members back for a Gruene Hall reunion. These are the guys that made the music on Lord of the Highway, Dig All Night and Live at Liberty Lunch - Guitar virtuoso David Grissom, Davis McLarty, and Jimmy Pettit. Look for a good time to be had with this bunch...........Joe Ely is just off of another stint of  Lyle Lovett's Songwriter Tour, which along with Lovett,  included other big guns, Guy Clark and John Hiatt. CD Releases - Hayes Carll, Greg Trooper, Robyn Ludwick

Greg Trooper  is featured in an interview this month on NPR's All Things Considered, talking about his critically acclaimed  new release, "Make it Through this World". Trooper plays a Gruene Hall cd-release show on May 1st, (5-9pm, no cover)......Mild mannered songwriter and storyteller,  Hayes Carll  has already topped  the Americana charts with his new cd, "Little Rock", a great new cd released on his own label. The cd is the first independent release to make it to #1 on the chart. Come hear him on May 21st (1-5 pm, no cover)  in an intimate Gruene Hall setting while you have the chance!   Sarah Borges, a newcomer to Gruene Hall, drops by on May 28th for an early free show from 1-5 pm. If you follow the charts, you've seen her name floating around in the top 20 of the Americana chart. Her new cd, "Silver City", just plain rocks, so come ckeck it out! She hails from Boston so we don't know when she'll be back around the area. And watch out for little sis' Robison...... Robyn Ludwick, who's out there making her own way..........she releases her debut cd at Gruene Hall on Memorial Day, May 30th (1-5 pm, no cover).

"Bob Dylan and his band will hit the road in May, June and July, bringing "The Bob Dylan Show" to audiences across the land. This tour of local ballparks features two exciting guests: Willie Nelson & Family and The Greencards."

Congratulations to Kym, Carol and Aamon of the Greencards, for being picked for the Bob Dylan tour! They are following in the footsteps of one of Gruene Halls' other favorite trios, Hot Club of Cowtown, who opened the 1st ballpark tour for Dylan and Willie.  Since then, hot fiddler for Hot Club, Elana Feherman, was asked personally by Dylan  to join his band, and is currently on tour with The Bob Dylan Show, which also features special guest, Merle Haggard.
