Walt Wilkins and the Mystiqueros - Fri., Mar. 9th
(free show)
A near constant presence
on the Texas Music Chart since its inception, Walt
Wilkins is a songwriter, producer, singer, guitar player and artist.
He spent a solid decade in the Nashville country music business trenches,
scoring a few cuts by major artists such as Ricky Skaggs
and Ty Herndon., but it was Pat Green's recordings
of several of his songs that made Wilkins' name known in Texas. Leaving
Nashville for Texas, Walt has built himself a solid reputation as one of
Texas' best songwriter/performers, and is a much sought-after producer
and advisor to the latest generation of songwriters. Come see Walt and
his great band, The Mystiqueros, on March 9th, 7:30-11:30. This
is a free show courtesy of Gruene Hall!

March 10th (tickets at the door only)
With roots firmly planted
in the fertile musical soil of Texas, the Eli
Young Band is a little bit country and a helluva lot of guitar-driven
rock & roll. The band was formed five years ago by Mike Eli who
grew up just outside of Houston and James Young who hails from Irving,
TX. Late in 2003 well known producer Frank Liddell (Jack Ingram,
Miranda Lambert, Chris Knight) attended a show at the Gypsy Tea Room
where EYB was playing on the bill with Miranda Lambert. He was blown
away by their live show and wound up signing them to Carnival Recording
Company soon after. After signing with Carnival Records, the
band released "Level" in 2005, catapulting them into the spotlight
and expanding their tour schedule beyond the Texas border. Catch them while
you still can! Tickets are $10 at the door only. Ryan
James opens the show.
