Hailing from Dallas, Tx., the Old 97's are one of the most popular bands in the alternative country movement's rock & roll wing.
Formed in 1993 by lead singer Rhett Miller, the bands' music draws from classic country, bar-band rock, and the raw sound of early punk. Their 2 well received independent releases led to a record deal with Elektra, where they released 2 more albums including an informal side project dubbed the Ranchero Brothers. Miller then released a solo project in 2001, and since then the band found themselves in different cities and starting families, only sporadically seeing each other. Their 2004 release "Drag It Up", is their first band album and first band tour since 1999. They will be recording both shows at Gruene Hall for a new live cd, scheduled for release in 2006.

Nominated for his first Grammy at age 5 (for his duet with his father, "Daddy What If"), Bobby Bare Jr. has come a long way and is making a name for himself in the indie-rock field. He'll open both shows for the Old 97's.  get tickets

Buckwheat Zydeco
*********************************************
.
....June 24th  (tickets at the door only)

There are not a lot of musicians that get to play in front of an audience of 3 billion, but Buckwheat Zydeco, whose real name is Stanley Dural Jr., had that distinct pleasure when he played for the summer Olympics of 1996. He's also played shows with Eric Clapton, U2, Robert Cray, and Los Lobos, and has earned 4 Grammy Award nominations. His name Buckwheat came about because the braided hair he had when he was growing up reminded his friends of the character from the Little Rascals. Zydeco, of course, comes from the music that he loves that originates from the area of Lafayette, Louisiana. Dural plays the "piano accordion" accompanied by a band that includes trumpet, saxophone, and other instruments, playing a mixture of rock-n-roll, funk, blues, jazz and roots music. Sound like fun? Come see for yourself, and pick up a copy of Buckwheats first studio release in 8 years, Jackpot.

Coming in July: Chris Knight, Rotel & the Hot Tomatoes, Gary P. Nunn, Kelly Willis, Rusty Wier, Dale Watson, Bugs Henderson, Bob Schneider, Pure Prairie League, Susan Gibson, Slaid Cleaves, and more.......
