It's sad when it happens (and it happens all too often these days), but it's sadder when it happens around Christmas time. Jason and the Stragglers were shocked and dismayed when the band discovered that its trailer had been stolen from a Fort Worth parking lot last month. Police found it later that day, emptied of band equipment and toys the Stragglers had collected for their annual Christmas toy drive. While a suspect has been identified, the chances that the equipment and toys will be recovered are slim. You can help the band in several ways.....by coming to any of their shows anytime before Dec.23rd and bringing a toy (you'll get a free Jason Boland Christmas Tree ornament for your effort),....or you can help by buying a copy of Boland's new CD, The Bourbon Legend. A financial donation is always an option too. Jason Boland and the Stragglers play Gruene Hall on Saturday, Dec. 2nd. Dave Jorgenson opens the show - get tickets
Sunday, Dec. 3rd (tickets at the door only)
Rounding out the Gruene Christmas Weekend, Rounder Records recording artist Slaid Cleaves returns to the Hall for a special Sunday night show on Dec. 3rd. Come hear some original holiday tunes along with other Slaid Cleaves classics at this all acoustic stage show. Slaid and Co. are having their The Annual Holiday Sale right now, and if you go to his website and order stuff by Dec. 13th, you'll get some great deals!. Tickets for Slaid's show are available at the door. Famed producer and sideman, Gurf Morlix, opens the show at 7 pm.
Pat Green's video for "Dixie Lullaby", filmed at Gruene Hall, will premiere on the "CMT Top 20 Countdown" on Thursday, November 30th, at 3:00 pm CST. “Dixie Lullaby” is an emotional ballad written by Patrick Davis, Justin Pollard and Green, about the death of one’s father, and can be found on Green’s latest album, Cannonball, released in August of this year. For the last few years, Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison have celebrated Christmas with a string of jolly holiday shows around their home state of Texas. With a set list that is divided among their individual regular set lists and holiday material, Kelly and Bruce enjoy the laid back atmosphere of the show and the kindness that the Christmas season brings to the fans. For Christmas tunes, Willis turns in a cozy and beautiful interpretation of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", while Robison straddles the line of serious and irreverent with "Daddy Don't Get Drunk This Christmas". These tunes and 5 more are available on their EP, "Happy Holidays". The seven-song EP captures the jovial (and sometimes sultry) spirit of the holidays, and is available on their websites and select Texas Music stores. The amazing Seth Walker opens both shows!

We've got a special lineup of music the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve at Gruene Hall -- bring your family out for dinner at the Gristmill River Restaurant and Bar, then stop by the Hall for some authentic Texas music.
