The
Gruene Music & Wine Fest began in 1987 with the purpose
of promoting Texas and Americana music in a fun and relaxed setting while
raising funds for the
United
Way of Comal County. Over the years, it has become a three day
celebration not only of Texas and Americana music,
but also a celebration
of Texas Wine Month. This year's headliners include PAT GREEN, THE JOE
ELY BAND,
ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL,
THE DERAILERS, ADAM HOOD, TWO TONS OF STEEL, and many more!
Storyville
is the great rhythm and blues band based out of Austin, Tx. who racked
up numerous accolades in the late 90's for their authentic Texas blues
sounds. Based around the high energy, spiritual vocals of Malford Milligan,
the
current configuration includes David Holt, Tommy Shannon, Gabe Rhodes,
and Barry Frosty Smith. Local favorites, 3-Mile
Stone have a new CD, and they'll open up the show for Storyville
with their own brand of gritty blues-rock. Tickets at the door only for
this one. Show starts at 8 pm.
Free to the public. Come on out and make yourself heard!
Our beloved Ponty Bone is turning
70 years old this month, and everyone is invited to help him celebrate
on Oct. 25th! Gruene Hall is honored to host cajun-zydeco master
Ponty Bone when he celebrates his 70th birthday here with a 5-9 pm show
on Oct. 25th. An all around great guy and musician, Ponty Bone has played
for Gruene Hall audiences for over 25 years, from his early days in the
Joe
Ely Band, to the various incarnations of his band, The Squeezetones.
No one has ever left a Ponty Bone gig without a smile on their face and
there will be big smiles this time. All former members of his bands are
invited to come and jam with Ponty, along with anyone else that has played
with him. And with all of the musicians that he has played with over the
years, there is no telling who might show up! Lots of special stuff happening
at this great birthday event. Come on out and wish Ponty a big Happy Birthday!
No cover charge!

Oct. 31st & Nov. 1st in and around Gruene,
Tx.
The history, charm, and ambiance of Gruene Historic District, a beautiful bicycle ride along the banks of the Guadalupe River and Gruene Hall - where Texas-style boot-scootin' has polished its wood floors for more than a hundred years... Yep, we're brewin' up quite a ride for the 26th Annual Tour de Gruene Bicycle Classic. Selected as Bicycling Magazine's "Cool Ride of the Month" for November 2007, participants look forward to a leisurely bike ride through the Texas Hill Country on Saturday, and a competitive time trial in the afternoon. Sunday will bring competitive time trials. And, you can't forget about the free shows at Gruene Hall on both days!
The pros aren't strangers
to the event -- Lance Armstrong, fellow Texan and seven-time Tour
de France winner is among one of our most famous past participants. In
fact, the Tour de Gruene was the first event he rode after he was diagnosed
with cancer in 1996 and he rode again in his self-described "2nd Comeback"
in 2008. Watch the
video! Proceeds will benefit The New Braunfels Chapter of
the American Red Cross and the Sally M Kingsbury Sarcoma Research
Foundation. For more info, please visit the Tour
de Gruene website..
Receive a free commemorative wine glass with purchase, while supplies last, when you dine out at Mozie’s and The Gristmill and order the special featuring Texas Wine and Food pairings. This promotion is sponsored by the Texas Department of Agriculture to promote Texas produced products. Click here for more info on the GO TEXAS Restaurant Roundup!
Coming in November: Robert Earl Keen, Aaron Watson, Wade Bowen, Roger Creager, The Belleville Outfit, Warren Hood & The Hoodlums, Jason Boland and The Stragglers, Shinyribs w/ Kevin Russell, Tom Gillam, Van Wilks, and more........
