Bruce Robison......SSat., Feb. 6th  (tickets at the door only)

"Texas songwriter" is one of those job descriptions  like "French chef" or "Kenyan runner" that packs a lot of implied historical weight. Any occupational title that invites immediate comparison to Guy Clark, Kris Kristofferson, Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson is not for the faint of heart. Real songwriters know that it’s not about how many units you move so much as whether people sing your songs to themselves when they're alone. By either standard, Bruce Robison is among the first rank of Texas songwriters. His songs have been recorded by numerous country stars such as Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, Gary Allan, wife Kelly Willis and brother Charlie Robison. Additionally Tim McGraw ("Angry All The Time"), The Dixie Chicks ("Travelin' Soldier"), and George Strait ("Wrapped") each achieved #1 status for their versions of his songs. He puts on a fun show too, so come on out on Feb. 6th!

Valentine's Day

Celebrate Valentine's Day in Gruene! Enjoy the Sweethearts' Gospel Brunch from 10:30-noon, do a little
shopping, have a cocktail at Mozie's, dinner at The Gristmill (featuring a center cut filet with Texas
grilled shrimp), and check out Los Fabulocos and Bob Schneider at the Hall!

....

.....Sunday Afternoon - Feb. 14th, 1-5 pm (free show)

Los Fabulocos featuring Kid Ramos, hailing from East Los Angeles, won the hearts of Gruene Hall patrons the first time they played here, and have been packing the house since then. Covering the full spectrum of fun music, they play great originals, blues standards, re-creations of material from classic Mexican cancionero singers and Doug Sahm Tex-Mex country rock.  Add to that an exciting stage presence and superb musicianship that features Kid Ramos (The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mannish Boys) on electric guitar, and you've got a great band  to celebrate Valentine's Day with. To top it off, it's a free show, from 1-5 pm.

Bob Schneider - Feb. 14th

with special guest Meagan Tubb.

Walt Wilkins

The hippie subculture was originally a youth movement that began in the United States during the mid-1960s and quickly spread around the world. A honky tonk is a type of bar with musical entertainment common in the Southern and Southwestern United States. Out of both cultures has come a new genre of music that we generally call Americana. Walt Wilkins is one of the early originators of Americana music, and one of the best songwriters on the scene today.  He's surrounded by great hill country musicians he calls The Mystiqueros. Join Walt and the band on the first Thursday of each month for a night of great music we call Hippie-Tonk Nights. No cover charge!

Formed in Southern California in 1966, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band envisioned themselves as a jug band, but in reality they were early pioneers of Americana music. The band first achieved mainstream success with the 1970 album, "Uncle Charlie and His Dog Teddy." The project included the breakout single, a cover of Jerry Jeff Walker's "Mr. Bojangles," that last month was added to the Grammy Hall of Fame. Later in the '70s, they came to Nashville and made history with three "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" albums, and now, four decades and some 30 albums later comes their new release, "The Speed of Light" produced by George Massenburg and Jon Randall. Check out their website for more info on the new CD! The current incarnation of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band consists of original members, Jeff Hanna and Jimmy Fadden, and includes early members John McEuen and Bob Carpenter. The Trishas open the show.
